Becoming a Saint
Maybe you’ve wondered, “If I’m truly a Christian, why don’t I act like Christ? If I’m really a child of God, then why don’t I act like my Father? If I’m genuinely saved from sin, why am I still falling to sin?”
Being a Christian doesn’t mean you’re perfect, but it does mean you’re being perfected. Hopefully you’ve heard, “God loves you just as you are, but He loves you too much to leave you that way.” If you’ve placed your faith in Jesus Christ, God has begun an ongoing & progressive process of changing you and preparing you for His purpose. That process is called sanctification. The word comes from the same root word of “saint;” essentially, sanctification is the process of becoming a saint. Believe it or not, God is at work transforming your earthly PRACTICE to be like your heavenly POSITION – a saint!
The first half of 1 Thessalonians 4 describes the process of sanctification. As we study this passage over the next 4 weeks, you’ll receive practical steps on how to become a saint.
